The Best Class, the Wrong Class, the What Class? The Guide to understanding Proper Classifications Under the FLSA.
One of the most difficult assignments for any human resources professional is Fair Labor Standards Act’s (FLSA) classifications. With advances in technology, changing job duties and a wave of new rules and regulations, properly identifying exempt employees can be a harrowing task; given new directives from the Supreme Court and shifting guidance from the United States Department of Labor, it has become even more difficult. This presentation will provide insight into FLSA’s many exemptions, and bring you up to speed on the latest developments from the Supreme Court and Department of Labor. It will also discuss how technological changes, including changes in workplace flexibility, impact FLSA issues and overtime, as well as the various risks associated with FLSA misclassification. Learn from an expert how to properly classify your employees and keep your city compliant! In this session you will review FLSA obligations and how to pay exempt employees, review who qualifies for exemption, discuss challenges for tracking time with a mobile and connected workforce and discuss updates on the US Department of Labor’s proposed “Overtime Rule” under the Trump administration.
