Cathleen Slack is the Chair of the Firm’s Business Services and Corporate & Real Estate Practice Groups. Her practice includes representing clients in the acquisition, sale, development financing, and leasing of real estate including office buildings, shopping centers, condominiums, skilled nursing facilities, multi-family and mixed-use developments. Cathleen has significant experience in choice of entity, formation, modification, and mergers and acquisitions as well as general business transactional matters. She has additional experience in handling eminent domain proceedings on behalf of condemning authorities for the acquisition of all types of real estate.
Cathleen’s background as a commercial property manager of an office tower in Houston, Texas, as well as her experience as an owner and manager during the start-up of a software development company provide her with a unique perspective to understand and respond to the needs of her real estate and corporate clients.

Representative Experience
Real Estate Matters:
- Represent clients in the purchase and sale of commercial and residential real estate.
- Represent developers in the development of commercial properties, including negotiation and drafting of construction contracts, establishment of operating and easement agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, development agreements, and easements necessary for development.
- Represent water districts, municipalities, and private developers in acquisition of real estate for easements and infrastructure development.
- Represent borrowers in the financing of commercial and residential real estate transactions.
- Represent landlords and tenants in the negotiation and drafting of ground, retail, office, telecommunication, and farm leases.
- Represent clients in the formation of condominium regimes for single-use and mixed-use purposes.
Corporate Transactions:
- Represent clients in choice of entity, formation, and modification of for-profit and non-profit corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, professional corporations, and professional associations, including mergers and acquisitions.
- Represent clients in general business transactions such as negotiation and drafting of consulting agreements, contracts for goods and services, waivers, releases, and covenants not to compete.
- Represent municipalities in the negotiation and drafting of inter-local agreements for asset acquisitions, real estate development and infrastructure projects, and provision of services.
Eminent Domain:
- Represent condemning authorities in the acquisition of real estate from the initial offer through special commissioners hearings and trials.
- Appeared on behalf of the condemning authority in over 50 Special Commissioner Hearings.
- Acquired over 100 parcels of land through eminent domain proceedings.
- Tried multiple eminent domain cases in District and County Courts in Texas.
